Hiya,
My name is Lydia, and I love to read. There is absolutely nothing that qualifies me to dole out book reviews, I’m just a gal who can’t leave the house without a book. I’ve enjoyed reading ever since I was a child and have never, thankfully, outgrown it. I love a good ghost story. Add in a mystery and I’m hooked. I’ve grown up on the spooky and creepy, and that, too, has never left me. In the 5th grade, I read every Nancy Drew book in our school library in a matter of months. I then proceeded to endlessly pester our helpless librarian to get more for me. We never got any new Nancy Drew books, but I did read every other mystery and ghost story available.

I have a fascination with Titanic, the Romanov family, and WWII history. Any book, fact or fiction, involving those subjects is one I’ll pick up. I love historical fiction as well. In turn, give me a fantasy book set in the wilds of Ireland or Scotland (or something equally mystical), full of magic and evil foes to defeat, and you won’t see me for days. In the end, I’m simply after a good story.

Favorites

I’m very cautious about telling people what my favorite books are for fear that they won’t like them, so instead, I’ll just go ahead and tell the whole internet because that seems like a smart idea. The books that currently reside on my ‘favorites’ shelf include:
The Sevenwaters Series by Juliet Marillier (My absolute favorite. So much a favorite that in 2014, I visited the park in Ireland that inspired part of this story for the author. And in 2018, my husband Billy asked me to marry him there.)
A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
The Alice Network by Kate Quinn
The Rose Code by Kate Quinn
My Grandmother Asked Me To Tell You She’s Sorry by Fredrik Backman
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
My Lucky Life In and Out of Show Business by Dick Van Dyke
Where Am I Now by Mara Wilson
Yes Please by Amy Poehler
Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick
The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum
Holes by Louis Sachar
The Mercy of Thin Air by Ronlyn Domingue
Dream When You’re Feeling Blue by Elizabeth Berg
The Legend of Bagger Vance by Steven Pressfield
The Secret of Roan Inish (The Secret of Ron Mor Skerry) by Rosalie K. Fry

Other Random Things About Me

In addition to reading, I love to travel (Billy and I have a travel blog you can check out here and a vlog you can watch here). I’m an actor who is mainly focusing on film (Billy and I met doing theatre). Since starting the travel blog, I’ve gotten a great camera and have started to dabble in photography. I love to play D&D and have HUNDREDS of characters sitting in reserve to play someday. We have three cats, and if Billy would let me, I’d have at least a thousand more. I’ll say yes to a cuppa tea no matter the temperature, and living in central Texas, it’s usually sweltering. I cherish the few days a year when I get to warm by the fire, steaming cuppa and book in hand. And for good measure, Roar Roar Gryffindor. I hope this helps you to know a little more about me!
Cheers,
Lydia
