About Me

Hiya, my name is Lydia and I love to read. There is absolutely nothing that qualifies me to dole out book reviews, I’m just a gal who can’t leave the house without a book. I’ve enjoyed reading ever since I was a child and have never, thankfully, outgrown it.

📚BOOK REVIEW☕️ The Codebreaker's Secret by 📚BOOK REVIEW☕️

The Codebreaker's Secret by Sara Ackerman
☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️/5

I adore WWII historical fiction, and I'm so happy to add The Codebreaker's Secret to my list of favorites. It has so many elements that I enjoy: dual timelines, mystery, WWII history, friendship, and even a bit of love.

Not only did I love following codebreaker Izzy in 1943 and reporter Lu in 1965, but the setting couldn't have been better. Having been to Hawaii, both Oahu and the Big Island, there were so many places in the book where I'd actually planted my feet. Reading this novel was like being transported right back to the islands. The urge to hop a plane this minute is REAL!

It read quickly, kept me glued to the pages, and had me crying all the tears by the end. I fell in love with these characters, and this story will stay with me for a very long time. If you want to read my full review (and find a link to buy a copy for yourself) go check out my blog. You can find it in my bio.

Happy reading, booksties! Go get yourself a copy of The Codebreaker's Secret!

Synopsis:
1943. As war in the Pacific rages on, Isabel Cooper and her codebreaker colleagues huddle in “the dungeon” at Station HYPO in Pearl Harbor, deciphering secrets plucked from the airwaves in a race to bring down the enemy. Isabel has only one wish: to avenge her brother’s death. But she soon finds life has other plans when she meets his best friend, a hotshot pilot with secrets of his own.

1965. Fledgling journalist Lu Freitas comes home to Hawai'i to cover the grand opening of the glamorous Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Rockefeller's newest and grandest project. When a high-profile guest goes missing, Lu forms an unlikely alliance with an intimidating veteran photographer to unravel the mystery. The two make a shocking discovery that stirs up memories and uncovers an explosive secret from the war days. A secret that only a codebreaker can crack.
📚BOOK REVIEW☕️ I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jen 📚BOOK REVIEW☕️

I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy
☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️/5

I didn't know who Jennette McCurdy was before reading I'm Glad My Mom Died, and yeah, I thought the title was a pretty strong one. But you don't make that the title of your book without a reason. So after a friend recommending the book to me and telling me I didn't need to be a fan of her shows to understand it, I dove in headfirst.

I'm Glad My Mom Died is an intense memoir that runs the gamut of emotions from laughter to rage to heartbreak and back. If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend it. It gives full scope to the notion that even though someone looks happy on the outside, we have no idea what goes on behind closed doors.

Check out the link in my bio to the blog where you can read my full review. You'll also find links there to buy a copy for yourself if you want one!
