About Me

Hiya, my name is Lydia and I love to read. There is absolutely nothing that qualifies me to dole out book reviews, I’m just a gal who can’t leave the house without a book. I’ve enjoyed reading ever since I was a child and have never, thankfully, outgrown it.

📚BOOK REVIEW☕️ Upon a Starlit Tide by Kell Woods 📚BOOK REVIEW☕️

Upon a Starlit Tide by Kell Woods
☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️/5

Am I calling my top read of the year even though I finished this in October? Yes, I do believe I am.

Upon a Starlit Tide follows Luce, the youngest daughter of a wealthy ship merchant in 1758 Saint-Malo. When she rescues a drowning man from the sea, a world of magic and betrayal unfolds before her. Mixing elements of The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, and folklore, Kell Woods weaves a fairy tale all her own.

I could go on for days about all of the things I loved about this book. The setting, the magic, the mystical elements that floated like a ghost over every page, the suspense, the love, the grief, the beauty of it all. Upon a Starlit Tide made me longing for a time and place I've never known. It had my soul calling for a nostalgia I didn't know I possessed. It held me in its grasp and has yet to let me go. And I hope it never does.

📚BOOK REVIEW☕️ The Briar Club by Kate Quinn ☕️☕️☕ 📚BOOK REVIEW☕️

The Briar Club by Kate Quinn
☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️/5

Love a good murder mystery? Multiple POVs? Historical fiction? Incredible characters? Huge twists? The Briar Club is for you.

Welcome to Briarwood House, a boarding house in in Washington DC. Year: 1950. The Red Scare is in full swing, and the women boarding at Briarwood mostly keep to themselves. Until one Grace March moves in and slowly brings the whole house together, forming the Briar Club and a whole host of unlikely friendships.

I loved this book so much, but I'll admit I had a rocky start. It took me a few chapters to get into it, but once I was in, I couldn't put it down! Kate Quinn is the absolute queen of historical fiction. Another incredible book to add to my shelf!! And y'all, get excited. The book has been optioned for a limited series!!! As a lover of this book, an actor, and a lover of period pieces, I AM CROSSING ALL OF MY FINGERS THIS PROJECT MAKES IT TO THE SCREEN!!!! Congrats Kate!

📚BOOK REVIEW☕️ The Third Gilmore Girl by Kelly Bi 📚BOOK REVIEW☕️

The Third Gilmore Girl by Kelly Bishop
☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️/5

As an actor and as a person, I've never connected with someone more than I did with Kelly through her memoir, The Third Gilmore Girl. What a treat I was in for! Her story is amazing, and if you choose the audiobook, you'll hear the whole thing narrated by the woman herself.

I thought I'd only met Kelly when I binged Gilmore Girls for the first time last fall, but I was wrong. I had no idea I'd been singing her words since I was a small child. The opening number of A Chorus Line and At The Ballet were the only songs I remembered from that musical, and through those numbers, Kelly has been with me for most of my life.

Her story filled me with hope, and I loved the little coincidences I shared with her, which I dive further into in the full review on my blog (link in bio).

Are you a Gilmore Girls fan? Who's your favorite character? Or are you more a musical theatre fan? Have a favorite show? Let me know!!
✨️What a night! Thank you @larkandowlbooksellers f ✨️What a night! Thank you @larkandowlbooksellers for another amazing event.✨️

The author event with Lindsey Kelk for her book The Bell Witches was so much fun! I laughed so hard throughout the discussion with her and Ali Hazelwood, both of which are absolutely hilarious. Getting to go with some of our book club ladies made the evening all the better.

I can't wait to dive into The Bell Witches and get to know a new-to-me author! Also, I heard there's a character named Lydia...I'm excited to meet her. 👀💗📚
